Sigma Alpha Zeta is based on the concepts of
Sisterhood, Academic Excellence and Community Service.

Sisterhood

This concept is our glue. What we value the most is our sisters. Ask any sister of Sigma Alpha Zeta, what keeps her coming back: active, alumni, or little sister; is the bond that is created within the sorority. Our sisters are going to be the bridesmaids at our weddings, the aunts of our children, and the friends we go to Las Vegas with to celebrate our retirement. They will be there in every joyous occasion as well as in our sorrows. This bond is made stronger with monthly sisterhoods and annual retreats. See this for yourself, and join us throughout our fall quarter sisterhoods.

Academic Excellence

As students, our first priority is academic excellence. Since we have dedicated ourselves to Sigma Alpha Zeta, in return Sigma Alpha Zeta fosters our academic success. We complete a minimum of 12 hours a week and also host workshops on time management, study skills, etc. We also have an academic library with study guides, notes, and books for sisters to use. Sisters are also assigned study buddies based on a sister's Major/Minor in order to provide assistance to one another and ensure success throughout their time at UCSB. We take pride in stating that Sigma Alpha Zeta, Gamma Chapter has an 100% graduation rate.

Community Service

As university women, we believe that it is our duty to help those less fortunate. We have been blessed with so many opportunities that we need to provide opportunities to others. Each quarter we are required to complete 10 hours of community service, but we always go above and beyond those 10 required hours. Additionally, for the past 20 years, we have worked tirelessly to execute our annual outreach program.

Every spring, Sigma Alpha Zeta along with Hermanos Unidos puts forth a massive effort known as the College Link Outreach Program. CLOP is a FREE three-day,
two-night outreach program, hosted by Hermanos Unidos and Sigma Alpha Zeta, that brings 150 underrepresented students from LA and Oakland to UCSB with the goal of inspiring them to achieve higher education. Feel free to learn more about our program by following us on social media, visiting our website and c
